"The Mermaid Song" - written by T. Scott Walker / Stephen Clark
A dedication to the presevation of the florida Manatee

Conceived in blue waters nurtured by the sun

A delicate and graceful mammal plays

Searching for the substance that makes her daily bread

Water lilies and hyacinth of green

Well she likes the warm clear waters that kiss the southern land

The sea cow is our friend - it’s nature’s plan

Though she’s welcomed us as brothers  - we’ve turned away her hand

Silly humans you still don’t understand

Pioneers and sailors  - on sleepless lonely nights

Saw a mermaid beauty in their eyes

And though she’s oddly portioned – in height and weight and size

Her warm and gentle waves will make you smile

Well she likes the warm clear waters that kiss the southern land

The sea cow is our friend - it’s nature’s plan

Though she’s welcomed us as brothers  - we’ve turned away her hand

Silly humans you still don’t understand

Well she likes the warm clear waters that kiss the southern land

The sea cow is our friend - it’s nature’s plan

Though she’s welcomed us as brothers  - we’ve turned away her hand

Silly humans you still don’t understand

Silly humans when will we understand
